Jerraud Powers signs for 3 years with Cardinals

Arizona jumped into free agency headlong and landed a corner to bolster the secondary.

The Arizona Cardinals and cornerback Jerraud Powers have agreed to terms on a three-year deal, according to the team's official web site.

Powers will immediately slide in as the starting corner across from Patrick Peterson, who is emerging as one of the best players in football. The diminutive Powers comes over from the Indianapolis Colts, where he had been a starter for all of his four seasons, giving him a solid base of experience.

Last season, Powers was limited to eight games because of a toe injury that ended his season in mid-November. That ailment highlights the biggest concern of this signing; health. Powers has never played in more than 12 games in a season.

With the signings of Powers and safety Yeremiah Bell, the Cardinals have the look of a very solid secondary. Bell was one of the more underrated players in the league in 2012, pairing with LaRon Landry in New York to form a very solid tandem for the Jets.
