The initial flurry of NFL free agency has died down somewhat, but there are still a lot of unemployed players and teams looking to find new talent. Some big names were making visits on Thursday, but have yet to come to terms on new contracts.
NFL free agent visits: Big name players still looking for homes Thursday
48 hours after the start of free agency, a few big time players are still out looking for new teams. Here’s a recap on who was visiting where on Thursday.
Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha was in San Francisco to visit with the 49ers, just days after being released by the Philadelphia Eagles. Another cornerback, Terence Newman, was in the Bay Area on Thursday, but he was seeing the Oakland Raiders, as is linebacker Dan Connor. Meanwhile, longtime Raven Ed Reed was in Houston to visit the Texans.
Perhaps the biggest offensive free agent still on the market, Greg Jennings was in Minnesota to visit with the Vikings. If the Vikings could sign Jennings, it would take a lot of the sting off losing Percy Harvin, on top of taking him away from their archrival, the Green Bay Packers. Wide receivers received much of the attention Thursday, as the Patriots hosted former Bills wide receiver Donald Jones, and the Miami Dolphins hosted Brandon Gibson.
