The New York Jets are closing in on a deal with free agent running back Mike Goodson, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.
Jets nearing deal with Mike Goodson, according to report
New York needs a replacement for the departed Shonn Greene, and could have one in Goodson.

Though it wouldn't be a blockbuster move, this would have to come as welcome news to Jets fans. Already, New York has watched as multiple starters have left -- running back Shonn Greene, defensive end Mike DeVito, and safeties Yeremiah Bell and LaRon Landry.
Goodson, 25, would give New York tough running with a little bit of speed, something similar to what it had with Greene. Last season with the Oakland Raiders, Goodson rushed for 221 yards on 35 carries but didn't score a touchdown.
In his four-year career, the first two spend with the Carolina Panthers, Goodson has gained 722 rushing yards and scored three times, all coming in 2010.
Goodson, a New Jersey native, would likely serve as a reserve back who could come in and play a key role in third down and short situations.
