As the Dolphins are still in the market for a starting cornerback, they continue to give serious thought to Brent Grimes. As Adam Beasley of The Miami Herald reports, Miami has "real interest" in Grimes, and a decision will be coming in the next couple of days.
Brent Grimes rumors: Dolphins have ‘real interest’ in former Falcons cornerback
The Dolphins’ interest in Brent Grimes continues to spark discussion about the cornerback’s chances of playing in Miami. Will he suit up in South Beach in 2013?
Grimes visited the Dolphins this past weekend, along with making a trip to the Browns’ facilities. Several teams are interested in the 29-year-old corner, but the Dolphins may be the team with the biggest need for his services.
Miami needs serious help in the secondary. Vontae Davis was traded away to the Colts last season, and Sean Smith recently signed with the Chiefs. Even if Grimes signs, the Dolphins are likely to draft another cornerback come April.
Grimes missed the majority of 2012 with a torn Achilles he suffered in Week 1 against the Chiefs. He underwent a physical during his visit to South Beach. His recovery is the biggest concern heading into 2013.
The Falcons are still interested in retaining Grimes, but he's testing the market to its fullest extent right now. Tampa Bay has been linked to him as well.
