Bears believe Brian Urlacher can still help team

Bears head coach Marc Trestman is still a believer in Brian Urlacher. Chicago thinks he can still make an impact for its defense.

The Brian Urlacher era in Chicago may not be coming to an end now that head coach Marc Trestman has given him a vote of confidence. Trestman still believes the veteran linebacker can play, and thinks Urlacher has value for the Bears this season, according to Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Urlacher will turn 35 in May. After dealing with injury issues in 2012, the Bears don’t exactly seem eager to bring back the aging veteran. However, negotiations on still ongoing between the two sides.

Chicago did not make a counter offer after Urlacher's representatives sent over a proposal earlier this month. Recent reports indicated the Vikings, Cowboys and Cardinals were interested in his services, but we haven't seen any substantial talks from any of these teams.

Urlacher missed four games last year, recording 68 total tackles in his playing time. He’s on the decline, but the Bears remain the front-runners to sign him. Chicago fans would surely like to see him retire there.
