Oakland Raiders re-sign Khalif Barnes

Barnes has been re-signed by the Raiders in each of the last four offseasons.

The Oakland Raiders re-signed starting right tackle Khalif Barnes, the team's general manager, Reggie McKenzie, announced on Wednesday.

Barnes, 30, was the full-time starter at right tackle for the Raiders in 2011, starting in all 16 games. However, he made just nine starts in 2012 due to a groin injury suffered early in the season that forced him out of the lineup for seven games.

A second-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2005 NFL Draft, Barnes was an immediate starter for the Jaguars at left tackle. After four seasons with the team and 57 starts, Barnes left via free agency and was signed by the Raiders to a one-year deal.

It was the first of four consecutive one-year deals, as the Raiders have re-signed Barnes in each of the four offseasons. While terms of the contract were not released on Wednesday, if the deal is a one-year deal, it’ll be his fifth in a row with the Raiders.
