Bernard Pollard, Titans agree on 1-year contract, according to report

The Titans added to their secondary on Thursday by signing Super Bowl champ Bernard Pollard.

The Tennessee Titans have signed safety Bernard Pollard to a one-year contract, according to Josina Anderson. The terms of the deal have not been announced.

Pollard is coming off a Super Bowl victory with the Baltimore Ravens. The hard-hitting, smack-talking safety was an integral part of Baltimore's success last season, amassing 98 tackles, two sacks and an interception.

In Pollard Tennessee gets a player who will give the defense some swagger in the secondary, something it lacked for better or worse last season without Cortland Finnegan, who left for the St. Louis Rams via free agency.

Pollard isn’t a very good coverage safety by any stretch, but he’s elite when it comes to getting down toward the line of scrimmage and choking off a running play.

The 28-year-old safety has bounced around some after being drafted in the second round of 2006 by the Kansas City Chiefs. After playing three seasons in Kansas City, Pollard spent two years with the Houston Texans before joining the Ravens for 2011 and 2012.
