Matt Flynn trade rumors: If deal falls through, Raiders like Kevin Kolb

The Raiders can go a few different ways if a rumored trade for Seattle QB Matt Flynn doesn’t work out. One of them is free agent QB Kevin Kolb, according to a report.

With the Seahawks and Raiders allegedly close to a deal that would send back-up quarterback Matt Flynn to Oakland in exchange for draft picks, it would seem Oakland is done with quarterback Carson Palmer.

If further proof is needed of an impending Raiders/Palmer divorce, a report from Adam Caplan that former Cardinals QB Kevin Kolb is drawing the interest of the Raiders should solidify it.

Kolb was released by Arizona March 15, ending a largely underwhelming stint in the desert. He played in 16 games over two seasons, throwing 11 touchdown passes and nine interceptions.

Buffalo is also said to be interested in Kolb, who could be brought in to compete with Tarvaris Jackson in the wake of the team's release of Ryan Fitzpatrick this offseason.

But the Raiders are apparently considering Kolb to be a Plan B option in what seems to be the unlikely event the trade for Flynn falls through. Needless to say, he’d fit in well with the underwhelming quarterbacks of the past and present in Buffalo.

Not that the situation in Oakland would dramatically improved with Kolb over Palmer, even if the current starter isn’t going to budge on his $13 million salary to play for the Raiders. Silver and Black Pride’s Marcus Allen Krause thinks releasing Palmer would pave a path for Terrelle Pryor, who essentially redshirted the 2012 season after Oakland took him in the 2011 Supplemental Draft.

If nothing else, the options are creative in Oakland.
