NFL free agent visits: Mike Jenkins, Domenik Hixon making the rounds

Both cornerback Mike Jenkins and wide receiver Domenik Hixon have received interest from three teams.

When Brent Grimes signed with the Miami Dolphins on Saturday, the free agency market at the cornerback came one step closer to being without a starting-level player. One free agent that has an argument for that role is former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins, who played in a reserve role in 2012 after three seasons as a starter for the Cowboys.

Jenkins, 28, may be able to return to a starting role, but it would have to be with the right team. One such franchise could be the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he would almost definitely step into a starting role. Jenkins spent Friday in Jacksonville and left with a contract offer, but wants to visit the Buffalo Bills and Oakland Raiders before accepting. The order of teams, though, and which days he will make those visits has not yet been reported.

Also still making free agency rounds is former New York Giants wide receiver Domenik Hixon. Hixon met with the Raiders on Wednesday, where he could fill the void left by the release of Darrius Heyward-Bey earlier in the offseason. However, he left the team without a contract and will instead travel to visit with the Carolina Panthers on Monday. Also potentially interested in Hixon are the Cleveland Browns, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
