NFL free agent news tracker: Matt Flynn closer to finding new home

We recap all the news and rumors from Sunday in the NFL free agency world.

The NFL free agency period has slowed to a trickle over the past week, but there’s still plenty of players out there looking for work in the 2013 season. While Sunday didn’t feature much big news, a handful of pending transactions and negotiations appear to be either moving along or stalling.

Let’s recap the headlines of the day:

Raiders close to finalizing Flynn trade

The Oakland Raiders appear close to finally make a deal for the Seahawks' Matt Flynn. Terms of the deal have not been finalized yet, but it doesn't appear to be much more than a couple mid-round picks. Oakland is expected to release Carson Palmer once the trade is completed.

Eric Winston still on Miami’s radar

The market for Winston has been quiet since he got released by the Chiefs, but the Dolphins are still interested in bringing him on board. Money could be an issue here, as Winston seems unlikely to accept a pay cut from his 2012 salary.

Bengals ‘not close’ to deal with Andre Smith

Andre Smith still hasn't found a suitor since the Bengals let him test the open market. He's open to returning to Cincinnati, but has been looking for around $9 million per year, a much higher price than what most of the free agent right tackles got. This situation could come down to which side blinks first.

Browns interested in Domenik Hixon

The Browns are looking for a 3rd receiver and special teams returner to replace Josh Cribbs, and Hixon could fit the bill. He had his most productive season in 2012, hauling in 39 catches and 567 yards.

Daryl Smith not expected to return to Jacksonville

The Jaguars are going all-in on the youth movement, and that could leave Smith as the odd man out despite being one of their best defensive players of the past decade. Smith, 31, is a free agent and missed most of 2012 with an injury.
