With a switch in defensive scheme, Brandon Carr said the Cowboys’ cornerbacks are preparing to play a more physical style next season.

Cornerback Brandon Carr said the coaching staff told the cornerbacks to prepare to play next season as physical as they can for 16 games. That means more man-to-man press coverage, but it goes beyond a change in coverage schemes.
“Not only disrupting the timing of the receivers, but also when our number is called to come up and stop the run and come up and tackle,” Carr said, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Carr said he and fellow starting cornerback Morris Claiborne have already discussed their new roles and taking on the mentality of shutting down their side of the field. Carr isn't expecting any issues, as he said the new scheme caters to what Carr and Claiborne were brought in to do.
The Seattle Seahawks have arguably the most physical cornerbacks in the NFL, and Kiffin has already told Cowboy players to study Seattle film to get an idea of how the Cowboys expect to play next season. Carr said the biggest change will be the mentality of the defense.
“Defense is supposed to be the aggressors and the ones making you make a decision out there, so that’s what we got to get back to.”
