Bryant McKinnie says Ravens ‘definitely’ want tackle to return

The hulking tackle wants to remain with the Ravens, but under one condition.

The Baltimore Ravens have been letting key contributors from their Super Bowl winning squad walk out of the building this offseason. Offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie doesn't want to be the next one, according to the Ravens official website.

McKinnie was nothing more than a bench player after showing up to training camp last year out of shape due to some excess weight. However, McKinnie was inserted into the starting lineup for the postseason after the line struggled down the stretch, and he helped fortify the unit.

Now, McKinnie wants to return, but only if he is guaranteed the opportunity to compete for a starting spot, per the article:

“I definitely want a starting job,” McKinnie said yesterday during an interview with WNST. “I want it to be fair for somebody to beat me out of my position instead of saying you want to try something new. Give me the opportunity to actually be fair and let somebody beat me out for the position.”

The 33-year-old is waiting for Baltimore to make a move, something that many tackles around the league have been saying. With such a glut of solid tackles in free agency this offseason, the price and demand for them has dropped, leaving men like McKinnie temporarily unemployed.
