The Washington Redskins and quarterback Pat White have agreed to terms on a contract, according to USA Today.

White, originally a 2009 second-round draft pick of the Miami Dolphins, will be brought in to compete for the third quarterback spot on the roster behind Kirk Cousins and Robert Griffin III.

White had a stellar career for the West Virginia Mountaineers, something that was noticed by the man who drafted him, Bill Parcells. However, White’s time in Miami would be short-lived.

In the last game of the 2009 season, White scrambled out of the pocket and was crushed by the Pittsburgh Steelers' Ike Taylor, leaving the rookie to be carted off the field. To this point, that was his last play on an NFL field.

The Dolphins released him in September 2010 after only one year, and since then White had a brief stint in the United Football League before giving up the game for a time. He dabbled in minor league baseball, signing with the Kansas City Royals and Miami Marlins, but ultimately decided football was his best sport.
