Ravens rumors: Karlos Dansby reportedly considered by Baltimore

Dansby finished the 2012 season with a career-high 134 tackles for the Dolphins.

The Baltimore Ravens could consider signing veteran linebacker Karlos Dansby to fill the void at inside linebacker if the team is unable to find a starter during the 2013 NFL Draft, according to Mike Preston of the Baltimore Sun.

Dansby, 31, was a second-round selection of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2004 NFL Draft and racked up 25.5 sacks, 10 interceptions and 11 forced fumbles in six seasons with the team. In 2010, the Miami Dolphins made him one of the top free agent acquisitions of the year by handing over a five-year deal worth $43 million.

Although he was a full-time starter for the Dolphins, his play didn't live up to the huge contract and he was released three seasons later, as Miami instead replaced him by giving a five-year, $34.75 million deal to former Ravens linebacker Dannell Ellerbe.

With the loss of Ellerbe, coupled with the retirement of 13-time Pro Bowler Ray Lewis, the Ravens are thin at inside linebacker and are expected to address it further in the offseason. If they don't choose to bolster their linebacking corps in the NFL Draft, they could instead look to Dansby to fill-in as a stop-gap.
