RGIII admits he should have left Seahawks game

Griffin tore his ACL in last year’s playoffs and now believes he should have done some things differently.

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III says he should have left last season's NFC Wild Card game against the Seattle Seahawks, according to the ESPN.

Griffin was clearly hampered by an aching knee that he had sprained a month earlier against the Baltimore Ravens, but played through the pain until the fourth quarter. At that point, Griffin took a snap from under center and went to drop back, when his knee gave out. He tore his ACL on the play.

Looking back on the night, Griffin sees that he would have been better off long-term by sitting instead of trying to play in spite of the injury. Per the Washington Post article:

“Your survivor instinct kicks in,” Griffin says. “You’re like, ‘I’m a warrior. I’m a beast. I do all these things, I can push through adversity.’ ”

“With what happened and how everything was running — you take me out. If that happened again next year, I’d come out of the game and sit until I was 100% healthy.”

Griffin’s recovery process thus far has been lauded by Dr. James Andrews, who performed the operation to repair Griffin’s ACL in January. If everything continues to progress as expected, Griffin will be back on the field sometime in training camp.
