Robert Griffin III injury: Redskins QB feels ‘100 percent’

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin says he feels “100 percent” and remains adamant that he will be able to play in Week 1.

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III said that he feels his surgically repaired knee is "100 percent," according to John Keim of ESPN. Griffin specifically said that nobody knows when they are specifically at 100 percent, but he did say, "The biggest thing is, I'm not below 100 percent."

Griffin has been rehabbing his knee injury all offseason and hasn’t taken part in any preseason games. All offseason, Griffin has talked about being able to start Week 1 of the regular season, and has claimed that he’s been ahead of his schedule.

Given when the injury occurred, returning for Week 1 would have him coming back slightly ahead of the projected schedule, for what it’s worth. Griffin has been practicing for a few weeks and recently started taking work against the defense as opposed to just working with the offense.

The next week or so is most important for Griffin, as he will have to show orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews that he is ready to play in a workout and examination to try to earn clearance. From there, the Redskins will evaluate whether or not they feel comfortable giving Griffin the start on Sept. 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
