Vincent Brown injury: Chargers WR says ankle is ‘100 percent’

The San Diego Chargers are taking no risks with third-year receiving Vincent Brown. He missed the entire 2012 season due to a broken foot, and despite the team admitting he could have played in late-season action, they elected to continue to handle his situation carefully. Now, Brown says he's back to 100%, but the team is still being careful.

Speaking to UT San Diego, first-year coach Mike McCoy talked about the necessity in not rushing their injured players, allowing them to take time to return to form.

“Some of those guys that had offseason injuries or whatever it is,” coach Mike McCoy said recently, “we’re just going to work back in and gradually work them up to where they need to be and get them back to 100 percent.”

Last year's injury derailed a promising start to Brown's career for the Chargers. The 2011 third-round pick finished his rookie season with 329 yards and two touchdowns. In four starts that rookie year he had two quality games, including a 97-yard receiving performance against the Oakland Raiders.

Quarterback Philip Rivers is looking forward to Brown's return, referring to him as "another second-round pick" in terms of the impact he can have in 2013.
