Daryl Washington arrested for aggravated assault, according to report
Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault in a domestic violence case with ugly details.
Ugly news of Washington’s alleged incident broke Thursday after the woman, apparently an ex-girlfriend of Washington and the mother of their five-month-old child, called the Phoenix Police Department Wednesday afternoon. She alleged that a dispute over visiting the child led to Washington choking her. Washington had reportedly filed a motion in court to allow him to see the child. Police couldn’t track down Washington Wednesday night and he didn’t show up to an interview with police Thursday, but has now been arrested and taken into custody, with bail set at $4,200.
The linebacker in his fourth season with the Cardinals was set to sit for the first four games of the year with a suspension for violating the NFL’s drug policy. In 2012, the 6’2, 230-pound linebacker signed a six-year, $32-million contract that carries through 2017. He has started all but seven games for the Cardinals over his three years, recording team bests with 134 tackles and nine sacks last season.
