According to the New York Daily News, the Giants are set to host a visit with Curry on Wednesday night -- the first team to meet with the free agent linebacker. Curry was cut in November following a season that saw him on the physically unable to perform list with the Oakland Raiders, finishing a disappointing 2012 season where he registered a single tackle in two games.
The 2009 draft class has become a disappointing punchline league-wide. The first round managed to send six players to Pro Bowls, but it littered the league with players struggling as depth on rosters, or who are already out of the NFL. Much like the 2013 class, it was thought to have a lot of risks at the top, but Curry was seem as a steadying force when drafted. The Butkus Award winning linebacker was considered “a lock” to become one of the NFL’s top players -- but was unable to become an impact player.
In five NFL seasons he's registered 203 tackles and 5.5 sacks. Given the low investment, there's a good chance the Giants could roll the dice on Curry, not expecting much. They parted ways with Chase Blackburn in free agency (now with Carolina) giving them a need on the outside.
