Aaron Hernandez reportedly destroyed home security system, cell phone

Police will search Hernandez’s home again on Thursday in light of the new information.

Investigators obtained another warrant to search New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez's home in North Attleboro, Mass., on Thursday, according to a report from ABC News.

Police said the security system at Hernandez’s home, which included video surveillance, had been intentionally destroyed. Citing law enforcement sources, the report also said that Hernandez’s attorneys handed over his smashed cell phone to police. Investigators are also looking into why a cleaning service was hired to clean his house on Monday.

The body of Odin Lloyd, 27, was found in a clearing near Hernandez’s home on Monday. Police obtained a warrant for an initial search of Hernandez’s home on Tuesday after a rental car registered to the Patriots tight end was identified in connection with the homicide.

On Wednesday night, a Boston television station reported that Hernandez was with the victim the night of the incident.

No arrests have been in the case, and Hernandez’s role in it is still not clear. Conflicting reports emerged Thursday that Hernandez would be arrested, including one from Sports Illustrated calling his arrest “likely.” It was not clear what he would be charged with if arrested.
