Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was indicted Monday for shooting former associate Alexander Bradley in the face in Florida in 2013, according to The Boston Globe. The indictment comes from Boston, where Hernandez is being charged under the state's witness intimidation statute.

Officially, the Suffolk County district attorney’s office is not identifying Bradley as the victim due to the fact that it’s a witness intimidation charge, but Bradley is suing Hernandez in federal court for the same shooting. Bradley is expected to be a key witness in Hernandez’s trial for the double homicide of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado in 2012.
Bradley was allegedly shot after he “made a remark about the homicides,” according to My Fox Boston.
Notably, Bradley testified against Hernandez in the recent Bristol County trial in which Hernandez was found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Odin Lloyd. The jury found that Hernandez had acted with “extreme atrocity and cruelty.” He was also found guilty on two gun charges related to the case. A first-degree murder sentence carries a life sentence without parole in Massachusetts.
Though he already has been sentenced to life, a witness intimidation charge carries up to 10 years in prison, according to Michael McCann of Sports Illustrated.
