Hernandez got a huge ‘LIFETIME’ tattoo in prison

Former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez appeared in a courtroom for the first time since being found guilty of first-degree murder in mid-April, and he showed up with a large, new neck tattoo that appears to read “LIFETIME.” Ian Rapoport, however, claims that the entire tattoo -- the bottom is not visible -- reads “LIFETIME LOYALTY.”

Lifetime is how long Hernandez will spend in prison -- his murder conviction came with a mandatory life sentence with no opportunity for parole.

Officially, the Suffolk County district attorney’s office is not identifying Bradley as the victim due to the fact that it’s a witness intimidation charge, but Bradley is suing Hernandez in federal court for the same shooting. Bradley is expected to be a key witness in Hernandez’s trial for the double homicide of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado in 2012.

Bradley was allegedly shot after he “made a remark about the homicides,” according to My Fox Boston.

“He would make every effort to get extra sandwiches,” Hodgson said. “He would just try to convince the officers to give him more than what they otherwise could get.”

Hodgson described Hernandez as charming. Bristol County staff were tasked with taking Hernandez to prison after he was handed a guilty verdict last week for first-degree murder, which carries a life sentence without parole in the state of Massachusetts. At Bristol, Hernandez reportedly threatened to kill a security guard and his family, and got in a fight with another inmate.

Per Massachusetts state law, there will be an automatic appeal for the first-degree murder charge. Judge E. Susan Garsh also tacked on additional sentences of three to five years for unlawful possession of a firearm and one year for unlawful possession of ammunition. Neither are the maximum sentence for those charges.

Hernandez, 25, will now face another trial in Boston for a double homicide that occurred in 2012. He was indicted in May 2014 for the killings of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado, but the trial was delayed because Hernandez’s defense lawyers argued that they needed the time to focus on the charges for the murder of Olin Lloyd.

Robert Kraft testifies in Aaron Hernandez trial

    Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

Yahoo’s Dan Wetzel was at the trial, and described the defense as attempting to “humanize” Hernandez -- in particular, holding up Hernandez’s $40 million contract as symbol of how much Kraft personally trusted the tight end. Personal details emerged, including the fact that Hernandez had a special greeting for Kraft -- “He would always hug and kiss me.“

Kraft testified that Hernandez said he was innocent, and had explained his relationship with Lloyd. According to Kraft, Hernandez said that Lloyd was his fiancee’s sister’s boyfriend, and that the two men had a social relationship.

Jenkins pleaded not guilty to a perjury charge in October that alleged that she lied to a grand jury about facts pertaining to the Hernandez case, including her role in disposing evidence. Documents released in August, including surveillance tape and a text message exchange, suggested that Hernandez tasked Jenkins with getting rid of a gun used to kill Lloyd.

Prosecutors allege that Jenkins has lied to the grand jury 29 times during the case, per Steele. If true, immunity would allow Jenkins to escape potentially serious punishment if found guilty of perjury in a murder case.

Lloyd reportedly sent text messages to his sister after being picked up in a car by Hernandez and two other men, mere minutes before the trio allegedly shot Lloyd to death in a vacant lot near the former NFL star’s North Attleborough, Mass., home.

Prosecutors claim that the messages, one of which read, “Did you see who I was with?” reveal that Lloyd feared for his life while riding in the car.

    Hernandez’s double-murder trial delayed

    Pool Photo-USA TODAY Sports

The double murder trial -- in which Hernandez is accused of killing two Boston men after an encounter at a nightclub -- was scheduled to begin in May. Hernandez’s lawyer asked for that trial to be delayed six months, so they can focus on preparations for Hernandez’s trial related to the 2013 killing of semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd. Jury selection in that case is expected to begin Jan. 9.

The judge agreed to delay Hernandez’s second trial, but did not set a new date, saying he wants to see how long the Lloyd murder trial takes before deciding on a firm date.

Hernandez lawyers want Patriots documents at trial

    Jared Wickerham

This is obviously bad news for the Patriots, who feel that they will be giving away far too much information about their scouting practices by releasing the information, which they don’t feel is relevant.

Prosecutors agreed, saying it has nothing to do with with the murder of Odin Loyd. The recods could show that Hernandez had some sort of diminished capacity, but the Patriots said Hernandez must tell them that if he wants the records.

Nor did investigators reveal how the tattoo artist might be able to link Hernandez to the double murder. Police are apparently casting a wide net for their search, with Hernandez known to have traveled to Hermosa Beach, Calif.; Bristol, Conn.; Palm Beach and Miami, Fla.; Boston, and Rhode Island during that time span.

Jake Wark, press secretary for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office in Massachusetts, said police are purposefully being vague about details of the investigation.

Surveillance footage showed an SUV belonging to Hernandez, with him in the driver’s seat, left the night club around 1:30 a.m. on July 12, 2012. After that, Conley alleges that Hernandez pulled up alongside the BMW with Abreu and Furtado in it at a traffic light before firing from the driver’s seat of the SUV.

Conley stated that the police believe Hernandez fired multiple shots from a .38 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver, killing Abreu and Furtado while injuring another man. The district attorney says Abreu and Furtado “were ambushed and executed.”

The prosecution will now have to find another way to go after Hernandez, who has been in custody. Hernandez is accused of killing Lloyd, a former semi-pro football player, then trying to hide and destroy evidence with the help of his girlfriend, Shayanna Jenkins. If convicted of the murder, Hernandez could be facing life in prison.

Ernest Wallace, who was also allegedly in the car with Hernandez at the time of Lloyd’s murder, won’t be testifying against Hernandez.
