Court documents released on Thursday revealed that Boston police suspect Aaron Hernandez as the shooter in a 2012 double murder in the city, according to the Boston Globe’s Wesley Lowery.

A search warrant affidavit unsealed on Thursday reveals police have “probable cause” to believe Hernandez may have been the shooter in the 2012 murders of Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado.
A Connecticut judge unsealed a search warrant affidavit requesting permission to search an SUV stored at the Bristol, Conn., home of Hernandez’s uncle -- a vehicle the police believe may have been used in the July 16, 2012, shootings of Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado in Boston’s South End.
The police have “probable cause to believe that Aaron Hernandez was operating the suspect vehicle used in the shooting homicides of Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado, and may have been the shooter,” according to the affidavit.
Police are looking to find gunpowder residue in the vehicle, which is believed to have remained untouched in the garage of the uncle’s house for more than a year. They also hope to turn up a duffle bag thought to contain clothing worn by Hernandez on the night of the murders.
Hernandez, who is currently being held without bail and is charged with the June 20, 2013, murder of Odin Lloyd, has not been formally charged with the 2012 slayings. He has pleaded not guilty to a first-degree murder charge in the Lloyd case.
The affidavit revealed several other details of the double-murder investigation. While investigating the Lloyd killing, police received a tip from a nightclub security guard who claimed to have overheard a conversation that linked Hernandez to both cases. Security video from the night of the murders also shows Hernandez entering a nightclub directly behind the victims, leaving a short while later and circling the block in his car.
