Aaron Hernandez lawyers want Patriots pre-draft scouting reports admitted to trial

The Patriots say admitting scouting reports will give away “trade secrets.”

The New England Patriots could become far more involved in the Aaron Hernandez trial than they would like. Hernandez's lawyers said on Wednesday that they would like to admit the Patriots' psychological examinations and scouting reports of Hernandez from when he was drafted.

This is obviously bad news for the Patriots, who feel that they will be giving away far too much information about their scouting practices by releasing the information, which they don’t feel is relevant.

Prosecutors agreed, saying it has nothing to do with with the murder of Odin Loyd. The recods could show that Hernandez had some sort of diminished capacity, but the Patriots said Hernandez must tell them that if he wants the records.

Hernandez might not be a member of the Patriots anymore, but the team is going to be involved in the trial and will almost certainly have some of its employees called to testify.
