Police reportedly have possible motive in Aaron Hernandez murder investigation

Was Odin Lloyd killed because he had information regarding a previous murder with Hernandez’s involvement?

Police believe they have discovered a motive for the murder of Odin Lloyd, the man Aaron Hernandez is charged with murdering. Lloyd may have had information linking Hernandez to a 2012 double murder, a pair of law enforcement officials told the Boston Globe.

Investigators believe that Hernandez and a group of associates got into a fight last year with two men, Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado, at a Boston nightclub. Abreu and Furtado were killed in a car that was stopped at a stoplight on July 16, 2012. A passenger in the car was also wounded in the shooting.

Via the Globe:

“The motive might have been that the victim knew [Hernandez] might have been involved,” one of the officials said.

Hernandez has been under investigation for the death of Lloyd since June 18. He was arrested and arraigned on a first-degree murder charge and five additional weapons charges on Wednesday. News broke Thursday morning that Hernandez was also being investigated for a possible link to the 2012 double murder.
