Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez told Bristol County correction officers that he has no gang affiliations, according to Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson, who spoke to the Boston Herald on Monday. Per the Herald, Hernandez was examined over the weekend by officers looking for tattoos that would indicate gang involvement.

The former Patriots tight end was reportedly examined over the weekend for tattoos that would indicate gang involvement.
“He talked to our gang investigators and said he didn’t have any involvement,” Hodgson said yesterday, adding that his gang unit is still investigating the matter.
“We always take extra precautions. We don’t have any definite issues at this point, but we’re still being very cautious,” Hodgson said.
Hernandez, 23, was jailed on June 26 and charged with the first-degree murder of Odin Lloyd as well as illegal gun charges. He pleaded not guilty to all charges. Hodgson told the Boston Herald that the review of tattoos is a normal procedure and investigators have not reached any definitive conclusions regarding Hernandez.
A fourth-round selection in the 2010 NFL Draft, Hernandez tallied 175 receptions for 1,956 yards and 18 touchdowns in three seasons with the Patriots. He was released by the team shortly after his arrest.
Hernandez is reportedly being held without bail and will have his next court date later in July.
