Von Miller denies marijuana use

With training camp on the horizon, and an important appeal of a four-game suspension, Miller says very little of his case. But he is adamant that he doesn’t mess with marijuana.

Broncos linebacker Von Miller is appealing his four-game suspension, recently handed down for an undisclosed violation of NFL policy. In addition, a recent report surfaced and stated that Miller had previously tested positive for marijuana. When asked by reporters recently if marijuana was a part of his life, the linebacker was succinct in his response:

“Absolutely not,” said Miller.

The second-overall pick in the 2011 draft, Miller has instantly become a defensive star in the NFL with 30 sacks in his first two seasons with Denver. He won the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2011 and was AP first-team All-Pro in 2012 after recording 18.5 sacks for the Broncos.

After losing defensive end Elvis Dumervil to the Ravens and an apparent clerical error, Miller's value as a pass-rusher has never been more evident. But the looming suspension could deal another huge blow to the Broncos defense, pending appeal.

Though he wasn’t able to say much about his appeal or suspension, Miller did add this statement:

“The guy who I was yesterday is not the guy I am today; the guy who I was two or three or four years ago is not who I am today,” Miller said. “I’ve done a lot of great stuff in the community, and my teammates done a lot of great stuff in the community. I think we will continue to do the same stuff.”

The Broncos open training camp on Thursday.
