Von Miller suspension: Broncos LB ban wasn’t for positive drug test, per report

Miller’s suspension is now a mystery after denials emerge on reasons for ban.

Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller was suspended last week, getting a four-game ban reportedly after violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. Now, there are reports claiming this wasn't exactly the case.

According to NFL.com, a source is now saying Miller didn’t fail any drug test. There are a bevy of ways to incur a suspension under the substance abuse policy without actually failing a test, including not showing up or being late to multiple screenings.

Miller has already filed an appeal and it is likely to be heard in mid-August. Should the ban remain in place, he'll miss games against the Baltimore Ravens, New York Giants, Oakland Raiders and Philadelphia Eagles.

There is a history of Miller having issues with drugs. He reportedly failed a marijuana test back in 2011 as a rookie with the Broncos. Since then, there are no known issues involving Miller with banned substances.
