Police recover more evidence after searching Aaron Hernandez’s apartment

The authorities found more evidence that could further link the former Patriot to the murder of Odin Lloyd after searching a second, secret apartment.

Massachusetts State Police have recovered evidence from an apartment leased by former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez which could tie him to the murder scene, according to The Boston Globe. Police searched Hernandez's apartment in Franklin, Mass., and uncovered boxes of ammunition, as well as a hat and sweatshirt that may connect him with the murder of Odin Lloyd.

The sweatshirt closely matches the one that Hernandez wore on the night of Lloyd’s death, and the hat looks to be the same one he wore during a night out with Lloyd several days beforehand.

Also discovered in the search:

- Five boxes of .45 caliber ammunition, the same caliber used to kill Lloyd

- One box of .22 caliber ammunition

- Rifle ammunition

- A Hertz rental car agreement

- Red baseball hat worn the Friday night before the shooting

- Paychecks from the Patriots and Puma

- A valet receipt from a Boston hotel

- A Western Union receipt

- Kay Jewelers bag

One of Hernandez’s associates, Carlos Ortiz, alerted the authorities to the existence of the apartment, which is located roughly 20 minutes from Hernandez’s home in North Attleborough. The apartment was described as a “flop house,” and Ortiz said that not many people knew Hernandez maintained it as a residence.

Hernandez is currently being held without bail. He was arrested last week on a first-degree murder charge, as well as five firearms related charges.
