Wide receiver Seyi Ajirotutu may be on the verge of his third stint with the San Diego Chargers in the last four years after the team brought him in for a physical and workout on Friday, according to Annie Heilbrunn. Ajirotutu originally signed with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2010.
Chargers bring in WR Seyi Ajirotutu for a workout, according to reports
The Chargers are considering signing the wideout for a third time in the last four years.
Ajirotutu had a career day against the Houston Texans in Week 9 of his rookie season, busting out for 111 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but he was quiet down the stretch and failed to make the team the following year. He joined the Carolina Panthers in 2011, but caught only one pass all season before being cut once again that offseason. He rejoined the Chargers midway through the 2012 season, but ended up on the injured reserve list after a hand issue ended his season.
Several key injuries to Chargers receivers have the team scrambling to shore up their depth at the position. Danario Alexander will miss the 2013 season after tearing his ACL earlier this month and Malcom Floyd will miss the remainder of the preseason as he recovers from a sprained knee.
Ajirotutu has recorded 17 receptions for 311 yards and two touchdowns during his three NFL seasons.
