Cowboys OL Brian Waters to play Sunday vs. Chiefs

The Cowboys offensive lineman will share snaps with Mackenzie Bernadeau at right guard.

The Dallas Cowboys intend to give veteran offensive lineman Brian Waters "significant playing time," according to executive vice president Stephen Jones.

The Cowboys signed Waters prior to the start of the season after it became clear that veteran help was needed on the interior offensive line. The Cowboys tried several options to fill the holes at left and right guard, including playing starting right tackle at right guard during the preseason, before ultimately signing Waters to a one-year contract.

Appearing on KRLD-FM in Dallas on Friday, Jones stated Waters would not start but would instead share snaps with right guard Mackenzie Bernadeau. Waters was reportedly impressive during practice this past week but is still attempting to get back into game shape after sitting out the season in 2012 and missing all of this year’s training camp.

Bernadeau started at right guard for the Cowboys in the Week 1 win over the New York Giants at home. The Cowboys will face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. ET.
