San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis left Sunday night's game against the Seattle Seahawks with a hamstring injury and the team announced he will not return to the game.
Vernon Davis injury: 49ers TE leaves with hamstring injury
Davis couldn’t find much room to roam in Seattle’s secondary and is out for the game.
Davis had three catches for 20 yards on five targets before leaving the game. In a sloppy game dominated by defense, the 49ers’ passing game hasn’t had much of a chance to get rolling. Turnovers and great coverage by the Seahawks limited all of San Francisco’s receivers.
With Michael Crabtree already out with a torn achilles, the 49ers can't afford to lose Davis for an extended period of time. He has become one of Colin Kaepernick's favorite targets. Davis had six catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns against the Packers in Week 1.
The 49ers were already down 22-3 when Davis left the game, and he wasn’t finding much separation in Seattle’s secondary, but the injury adds insult to injury for San Francisco.
