The Seahawks and 49ers met in Seattle for a Week 2 battle that broke the Guinness Book of World Records' mark for loudest stadium. The 49ers were handled a loss on the field and likely lost nose tackle Ian Williams for the season with a broken ankle. For the reigning NFC West champions, the game was one to forget.
49ers vs. Seahawks 2013: Marshawn Lynch carries Seattle’s offense

While the game was mostly a defensive struggle for the first half, the Seahawks offense opened up with running back Marshawn Lynch in the third quarter. Seattle ran the ball down the throats of the 49ers' defense that had Williams out of the lineup with the ankle injury.
Still, Danny Kelly of Field Gulls was concerned by quarterback Russell Wilson's performance on Sunday night:
Russell Wilson had an atrocious first half of passing and all the credit goes right to the Niners’ very stout defense. Wilson was 2-for-10 for 48 yards after the first half and Seattle led 5-0. The only thing moving the chains for the Hawks at that point was the run game, which amassed 140 yards in the first half. Wilson settled down a bit in the second half but finished an underwhelming 8-of-19 for 142 yards passing with a pick and a touchdown pass to Marshawn Lynch, and overall, it wasn’t pretty. The Hawks’ normally efficient QB did manage to avoid any turnovers in the 2nd half, but he’ll have a lot of things to work on in film review this week.
Specifically what? I can’t tell you what the issues were without really digging into the game again, but he just didn’t look to throw in rhythm and on a good portion of his deep drops, he failed to pull the trigger (good coverage in the back end by the Niners). He did have a few key completions that moved the chains though, so at this point, I’ll take it, but he didn’t look like the Wilson we’ve seen of late.
David Fuccilo of Niners Nation believes San Francisco’s loss for an all-around team failure:
This loss can hang on virtually the entire team. The game plan appears to have been ill-conceived, and any execution was piss poor as well. I don’t think one single person deserves the blame. The offense struggled most of the game, while the defense wore down and suffered from some stupid penalties. Feel free to blame players and/or coaches, but all in all it was very poor across the board.
The most frustrating part of this loss was that the 49ers had numerous wasted opportunities in the first half. Both teams were struggling to do anything on offense, and the Seahawks didn’t really get going until the second half. The 49ers offense simply could not get things going against the Seahawks defense, and they did not adjust until it was too late to matter.
