San Francisco 49ers outside linebacker Aldon Smith is expected to play on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts despite his Friday morning arrest, according to 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Despite an arrest on Friday morning, Jim Harbaugh said he expects Aldon Smith to play in the team’s Week 3 game.

“I expect Aldon, like today, to be back to work and to play on Sunday,” Harbaugh told reporters after the team’s Friday practice.
Smith, 23, was arrested by the San Jose Police Department for suspicion of driving under the influence on Friday morning after he was involved in a single-car accident. Smith was also in possession of marijuana and pills, according to Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News.
In the first two games of the 2013 season, Smith accumulated 3.5 sacks, and currently ranks fourth in the NFL. He finished second in the league in 2012 with 19.5 sacks, earning Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro honors. Smith also tallied 14 sacks as a rookie after he was selected seventh overall in the 2011 NFL Draft.
