Matt Cassel is starting in the place of an injured Christian Ponder today as the Vikings play the Steelers in London. If he continues to play this way, Cassel will come back to America as the permanent starter for Minnesota. Cassel put the Vikings up 10-0 in the first quarter when he hit Greg Jennings for a 70-yard touchdown.
Vikings vs Steelers: Matt Cassel hits Greg Jennings for a 70-yard touchdown
The veteran is off to a good start as he replaces the injured Christian Ponder. Can he keep the starting position?

Most of the work was done by Jennings, who ran most of the 70 yards on his own as he cut and slashed through the defense, but nonetheless, Cassel already has half as many touchdown passes this year as Ponder.
In three games, Ponder has two touchdowns and five interceptions for the 0-3 Vikings. Ponder was forced to sit today with a fractured rib and Cassel got his first playing time for Minnesota after being released by the Chiefs following a terrible season. However, Ponder doesn't provide a huge road block for Cassel to breakthrough to get another chance as an NFL starter.
Getting help like that from Jennings is a good start.
