Adrian Peterson, Le’Veon Bell exchanging blows in London

The Vikings take a big lead in London behind the play of Peterson, but at least Bell is doing work for his fantasy owners.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have struggled to move the ball on the ground all year and have been desperately waiting for the return of rookie Le'Veon Bell. They got that on Sunday in London as Bell made his NFL debut and he's been marginally better than his predecessors, rushing for 44 yards on 14 carries with two touchdowns.

Unfortunately, the running back for the other team is pretty good too.

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has two touchdowns of his own, plus 109 yards on 13 carries, as Minnesota leads 34-17 in the third quarter.

Peterson had 281 rushing yards on the season coming into Week 4 and though he's not nearly on the pace that he was during his historic 2012 season, he's obviously not slowing down. He also wasn't slowing down on an exciting 60-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. The Vikings also saw the team debut of quarterback Matt Cassel, starting for an injured Christian Ponder, and he has 210 yards passing with two touchdowns.

Bell’s 3.1 yards per carry is slightly better than the 3.0 yards per carry that Pittsburgh came in with as a team. He’s been an improvement, perhaps, but the Steelers may have to abandon the run down 17 points. Meanwhile, Peterson probably gets more carries as Minnesota tries to milk the clock with the lead.
