2014 NFL playoffs: Conference Championship referees announced

The men in stripes for the conference championships have been disclosed so fans can begin booing, simply because they are referees.

The officials for the AFC and NFC Championship Games have been announced.

In the AFC contest, Tony Corrente will be running the show, while the NFC's final game gets Gene Steratore, according to Pro Football Talk. Corrente has been the head official in plenty of big games before, doing the job in Super Bowl XLI along with championship games in 2009 and 2000. He's a feel-good story after dealing with throat cancer in 2011, causing him to miss time for chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

Steratore has never worked a game of this magnitude before, but graded out well enough this season to be placed in this position.

Neither official will be working with his normal crew this weekend. Per league rules, the crews are made up based on grades throughout the regular season, not who have been together.

As for the Super Bowl, either Clete Blakeman, Carl Cheffers, Terry McAulay or Pete Morelli will be doing the game after working in the Divisional round.
