Houston Texans outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney left Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans with a back injury. Clowney went down after being blocked low by a Titans player and was helped off the field and to the locker room by the training staff. Although the Texans announced his return as questionable, Clowney came back on the field in the second quarter.

John Simon replaced Clowney while he was out.
Clowney has dealt with several injuries since the Texans drafted him with the first overall pick in 2014. Clowney has missed one game this year, a Week 6 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He sat out that game with an ankle injury. In his rookie year, he only played in four games and underwent microfracture surgery on his knee last December.
Coming into Sunday’s game, Clowney had 20 tackles this season and recorded his first career sack last week against the Miami Dolphins. The Texans, despite having players like J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus, only rank 19th in the league in sacks.
