Jets vs. Raiders 2015 final score: Derek Carr leads Oakland to 34-20 win

The Jets ranked No. 2 in the league in total defense going into Sunday, but Derek Carr threw four touchdowns in a Raiders victory.

The Oakland Raiders scored an upset victory over the New York Jets on Sunday, winning 34-20. Derek Carr and the Raiders offense had a field day against a Jets defense that ranked third in the league against the pass and second overall going into Sunday's game.

Carr finished the game having completed 23 of 36 passes for 333 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. He found Michael Crabtree seven times for 102 yards and a touchdown, and also hit Andre Holmes for a pair of catches, both of which went for touchdowns.

New York struggled on both sides of the ball, and the offense was thrown into disarray when Ryan Fitzpatrick had to leave the game after throwing just three passes. All three were completed, but a hand injury forced Geno Smith to come into the game. Smith recently returned from a broken jaw that has kept him out until now, and he played a decent game.

Smith threw a couple touchdowns and an interception and threw for just over 250 yards. He was also sacked three times for a loss of 19 yards. He did take one big hit late on the sideline, and you can see it below:

Given Fitzpatrick’s injury, Smith might want to reconsider ducking and taking this hit on the sideline. It was a long run for him and he had plenty of time to step out of bounds rather than take that kind of hit. It’s probably safe to say the Jets coaches are going to tell him to go out next time something like that happens.

Unfortunately, Smith left the game with under a minute to go due to injury and Fitzpatrick came in for a single play despite his hand wrapped up pretty significantly. Smith did come back into the game to finish it up.

The Jets got on the board first in the first quarter when Nick Folk kicked a 40-yard field goal. But before the Jets scored again, the Raiders put up three consecutive touchdowns, with the passes to Crabtree and Holmes. Folk then made another field goal before the second half, but the Raiders kept the scoring pressure on in the second.

Oakland running back Latavius Murray also had a big game, carrying the ball 20 times for 113 yards. Murray has struggled this year and the Raiders haven't been great at run blocking, but they handled the Jets' defensive line on Sunday and also held the team without a sack.

The Raiders improve to 4-3 on the season and will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in their next game. The Jets have now lost two consecutive games and have a whole lot more questions than they did a couple weeks ago, when they were sitting at 4-1 on the season. They will play the Jacksonville Jaguars in their next game.
