With the 15th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft the San Diego Chargers selected running back Melvin Gordon of Wisconsin. Gordon is considered one of the top two running backs in this year's class, alongside Todd Gurley of Georgia.
NFL Draft results 2015: Chargers trade up to take Melvin Gordon at No. 15
The running back is coming off an all-time great season at Wisconsin.

The Charges made a draft-day trade with the 49ers to move up and select Gordon, sending the No. 17 overall pick, a fourth rounder in this year's draft (No. 117 overall) and a 2015 fifth-round pick to San Francisco.
Last season at Wisconsin Gordon rushed for a nation-high 2,587 yards, the second most in a single season in FBS history, behind only Barry Sanders in 1988. Gordon was a unanimous first-team All-American and first-team All-Big Ten selection. He was also the Heisman Trophy runner-up, losing out to quarterback Marcus Mariota.
On Nov. 18 last year Gordon rushed for a then-record 408 rushing yards against Nebraska (that number was eclipsed later in the year). Last season he also set school records with six 200-yard games and 12 100-plus ones. He was given the Doak Walker Award, which is handed out to the nation’s top running back, and was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year for 2014.
Gordon fits the bill of a feature back in the NFL and can carry a heavy workload if need be. He should be able to step into a starting role immediately.
