With the No. 32 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots selected defensive tackle Malcom Brown of Texas. Brown was a second-team All-Big 12 selection in 2014 and is a very complete defensive lineman.
NFL Draft picks 2015: Malcom Brown taken by Patriots at No. 32
Malcom Brown was taken by the Patriots with the final pick in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Brown is a big guy who will be asked to eat up space, but he also penetrates the line very well. He’s not a pass rusher first, but he’s able to get into the backfield and make life tough for opposing quarterbacks. He can come in and start at the defensive tackle position as a rookie. He was a first-team All-American and was a finalist for the Outland Trophy and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy for this 2014 season.
Brown put up 19 reps on this bench press, ran a 4.62-second 40-yard dash and looked good at both the scouting combine and his pro day. He was a riser throughout the pre-draft process, with most considering him a first-round pick by the end of it.
If there’s one big weakness for Brown, it’s that he hasn’t consistently been able to beat double teams. If opposing offenses put a double team on him at any point, he has a tendency to disappear from the play entirely. He’ll need to work on that going forward, but has a complete enough skillset to contribute as a rookie.
