With the 19th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns selected Florida State Seminoles center Cameron Erving. Erving is widely regarded as the top center in the draft and will likely start from the beginning in the NFL. Erving is an accomplished collegiate athlete, receiving All-ACC honors in his last two years at Florida State and winning the 2014 national championship.
NFL Draft results 2015: Cameron Erving taken by Browns at No. 19
Erving is the highest-rated center in the draft, coming out of Florida State.

At 6'5 and 313 pounds, Erving has more than enough size to play in the trenches. At the NFL Combine in February, Erving put on a show. The Georgia native set Combine bests for his position with 30 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press and a 112-inch broad jump, while coming in second among centers with a 7.48-second 3-cone drill.
Erving is a tad raw at center because of moving around so much in college. In 2011, Erving was a defensive tackle for the Seminoles before becoming the starting left tackle in 2012 and in 2013 during the championship campaign. Last year, Erving went from tackle to center, starring for Florida State before the national semifinal loss to the Oregon Ducks.
Cleveland doesn’t have a need at center specifically, with Alex Mack under contract. But Mack can void the final three years of his contract after the 2015 season, so Erving can start at a guard position this season and switch to center the following season if need be.
