Four months after they faced off against each other in the college football's first ever playoff game, Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota made history again on Thursday night at the 2015 NFL Draft, becoming the first Heisman Trophy winners to go first and second overall.
NFL Draft results 2015: Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota go 1-2
Quarterbacks grabbed the top spots, but it was a big night for running backs after Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon went in the top 15.

Winston -- the 2013 Heisman winner who overcame a turbulent off-field career at Florida State -- had long been a lock to go off the board first to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But after weeks of trade rumors, it was a mild surprise when the Tennessee Titans stuck with their No. 2 pick and grabbed Mariota, who won the trophy this past season after guiding Oregon to the national championship game. Current Philadelphia Eagles coach and former Oregon coach Chip Kelly did his best to pry the No. 2 pick away, offering up a treasure trove in exchange for rights to Mariota, but the Titans held fast.
It wasn't just the quarterbacks making history on Thursday night, though. Georgia's Todd Gurley -- a Heisman candidate himself before suspension and injury derailed his junior season -- went No. 10 to the St. Louis Rams, becoming the first-round running back since 2012. Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon joined him five picks later after the running back-starved San Diego Chargers traded up to grab him at No. 15.
The only other trade of the first round occurred when the Denver Broncos swapped with the Detroit Lions, moving from No. 28 to No. 23 to pick 2014 SEC Defensive Player of the Year Shane Ray -- a notable move considering that just three days prior, Ray was cited for marijuana possession during a traffic stop.
