Randy Gregory wants vengeance after being passed over in Round 1 of the NFL Draft

Randy Gregory is potentially a top-five talent in this year’s NFL Draft class, and he is not happy with the teams that passed over him in the first round.

Pass rusher Randy Gregory, SB Nation's No. 5 overall prospect, is still available on Day 2 of the 2015 NFL Draft for various and complex reasons. Gregory isn't taking the perceived slight lightly.

“I didn’t sleep last night because I feel like I let my family down,” Gregory told ESPN’s Ed Werder. “The team that drafts me won’t have to worry about me off the field. Teams that didn’t will have to worry about me on the field.”

Gregory's fall may have something to do with his failed drug test at the NFL Combine last February. He was frank about his use of marijuana in college, saying that he struggled to curb his use while at Nebraska. Gregory reportedly brought up his marijuana use in every meeting he had with NFL teams, even if he was not asked about it.

Unfortunately for Gregory, his forthcoming attitude didn't seem to help him Thursday. Pass rushers like Dante Fowler Jr., Vic Beasley and Bud Dupree were all taken ahead of him.

Teams may still have questions about Gregory as a player, too. Missouri's Shane Ray was cited for marijuana possession earlier this week but was still selected No. 23 overall by the Denver Broncos. SB Nation's Stephen White broke down Gregory's tape, and found a player with outstanding athleticism and agility who was still perhaps a bit too raw and undersized to make an immediate impact in the NFL.

The good news for whichever team selects Gregory is that he will be highly motivated to prove himself. Don’t expect him to wait long Friday night to hear his name called.
