LeSean McCoy expected to play vs. Patriots

Despite missing practice earlier in the week with a hamstring injury, the Bills running back will play Sunday in a key AFC East matchup.

Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy was listed as questionable on the team's injury report with a hamstring injury, but he will play Sunday against the New England Patriots, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Because he is not expected to be 100 percent, backups Karlos Williams and Boobie Dixon should get a fair share of the workload.

McCoy was a limited participant in practice on Thursday and Friday, and head coach Rex Ryan said he was cautiously optimistic that he would be able to play in a pivotal AFC East game against the Patriots. McCoy saw a heavy workload in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts, carrying the ball 17 times for 41 yards in the game. He also caught three of the four passes thrown his way for 46 yards.

While he didn’t break any huge runs and was outgained by Williams on the ground, he’s definitely a difference-maker on the field.

Having McCoy active for this game is big, though you can probably expect Williams to see more than the six carries he had in Week 1. Then again, if the Patriots and Tom Brady have the kind of scoring output they did in Week 1, the Bills may turn to the passing game more quickly, in hopes that receiver Percy Harvin and quarterback Tyrod Taylor can combine for a productive game.
