There was a chance the St. Louis Rams would get rookie running back Todd Gurley back sooner than expected, but he was declared inactive for Sunday's game against Washington. Gurley tore his ACL last November, but entered the NFL Draft anyway and was taken in the first round by the Rams.
Todd Gurley out vs. Washington in Week 2
Todd Gurley practiced in full all week, but still isn’t ready to return from an ACL tear.

Many were expecting Gurley to miss multiple weeks, but when he was a full participant in practice on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, there was some thought that he might be able to play Sunday. Gurley was listed as questionable on the official injury report.
Even when Gurley does return from the injury, it will be interesting to see how the Rams use him right away. He fits the model of a workhorse feature back in the NFL, but the Rams will likely want to bring him along slowly and limit his touches in his first handful of games back from the injury.
Without Gurley and presumptive backup Tre Mason in Week 1, the Rams put up a total of 76 yards rushing. Benjamin Cunningham led the way with 45 yards on 16 carries, while wide receiver Tavon Austin was second with just 17 yards and a touchdown. There weren't many open running lanes against the Seattle Seahawks.
Mason was also listed as questionable on the injury report this week, due to a thigh injury that kept him out of Week 1. Like Gurley, he participated in all three practices in full leading up to Sunday’s game, but unlike Gurley, he was declared active for this game and should get his touches on Sunday.
