Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery left Sunday's game against the Houston Texans with an ankle injury. Cotchery went down hard on his right leg and stayed down on the field until the training staff attended to him. He was taken off the field without putting any weight on the right ankle and eventually was carted to the locker room.
Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery diagnosed with high ankle sprain
One of Cam Newton’s top targets left Sunday’s game against the Texans with an ankle injury.

Although the Panthers announced that Cotchery was questionable to return to the game, he came back on the field during the second quarter. Later, he left the game after the injury worsened.
On Monday, head coach Ron Rivera said that Cotchery suffered a high ankle sprain, but that he could be back in time for the Panthers’ Week 3 game.
Rivera says Cotchery has a high ankle sprain. Doctors hope he'll be OK for Saints game.
— Joe Person (@josephperson) September 21, 2015 Cotchery caught just one pass for 11 yards in the Panthers' 24-17 win over the Texans, but any injury to him, or really any receiver in Carolina, is a big deal given the lack of depth there. Kelvin Benjamin, Cam Newton's top target, tore his left ACL and is out for the season. Carolina lists Corey Brown and Ted Ginn Jr. among its starting receivers, with Cotchery typically being the third man on the field.
In Week 1, Cotchery was targeted six times and caught four passes for 45 yards and a touchdown. Ginn is the team’s top receiver, and he caught two passes for 54 yards in the season opener.
