San Francisco 49ers running back Carlos Hyde is expected to play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals after sustaining a mild leg injury in a lopsided loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Hyde was also checked for a concussion during the game, but was cleared to return. San Francisco head coach Jim Tomsula, though, decided to keep Hyde on the sidelines since the 49ers were being blown out.
Jim Tomsula: "Carlos Hyde has a leg contusion, should be fine. He was cleared in game for concussion tests, but didn't want to put back in."

Hyde is the starter for the 49ers after Frank Gore left for the Indianapolis Colts in free agency. He had a huge game his first time starting in Week 1, putting up 168 yards and two touchdowns against the Minnesota Vikings. Prior to exiting Sunday's game, Hyde carried the ball 15 times for 43 yards.
Behind Hyde are a pair of rookies thanks to an injury to Reggie Bush that kept him out of Sunday's game. Rugby League convert Jarryd Hayne is the primary backup, with fourth-round pick Mike Davis behind him.
