Houston Texans defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is out for Saturday's Wild Card playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The news was first reported by the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Clowney was the only big-name player listed as questionable on the injury report on Friday.
Jadeveon Clowney out for Texans’ playoff bout with Chiefs
The former No. 1 overall pick won’t play against Kansas City.

Clowney has had a long string of injuries since the Texans made him the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. He played in just four games as a rookie, and injuries forced him out of three games in the regular season, limiting his season total to just 4.5 sacks and 40 tackles along with a forced fumble.
The Texans second-year pass rusher did not take news of his inactivation very well. According to Ed Werder of ESPN, he was visibly upset with head coach Bill O’Brien and decided to leave the stadium completely.
Clowney did not play in Houston's regular season finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars, a game that the Texans won. Alongside J.J. Watt, Clowney playing close to full health is one of the scariest things an offensive line in the NFL can go up against. But the pairing of Watt and Clowney has been a rarity in his short time in the league.
It’s a big loss for the Texans, even if Clowney hasn’t done much this season.
