NFL playoff bracket 2016 update: Chiefs shut out Texans to advance, await Patriots

The Chiefs hammered the Texans to advance. Now they await the result of Bengals-Steelers to find out who they’ll play in the Divisional round.

SB Nation 2016 NFL Playoff Guide

The Kansas City Chiefs advanced to the Divisional round of the 2016 NFL playoffs after shutting out the Houston Texans Saturday, 30-0. The Chiefs played spectacular defense (with some help from a shaky Brian Hoyer) to win, but they will face a much tougher foe in No. 2 seed New England Patriots.

In the Patriots, the Chiefs get a beleaguered but well-seasoned playoff team. Injuries hampered the Pats' offense. Entering the playoffs, wide receiver Julian Edelman and tackle Sebastian Vollmer were both questionable. Still, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are proven winners whatever their supporting cast.

Also on Saturday, the Pittsburgh Steelers outlasted the Cincinnati Bengals 18-16, with Pittsburgh advancing to face the No. 1 seed Denver Broncos next weekend.

The NFC Wild Card games will take place Sunday. Unlike the early game Saturday, the winners of Sunday's frigid noon game between the Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings will know who their opponent is. The Seahawks will face the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte if they win, while the Vikings would take on the Arizona Cardinals in Glendale.

Here are the complete results, bracket and remaining schedule for the rest of the playoffs:
